  • Te Puke, one hours 30 minutes’ drive south of Tauranga, a quiet country town famous for its kiwifruit and citrus orchards, dairy farms and honey producers. Te Puke has a range of antique shops, restaurants and craft galleries that bring visitors a rich experience.

    The scenery around Te Puke is stunning and can be enjoyed through bush walks, guided tours and scenic helicopter flights. Kiwifruit and honey-themed attractions are popular. A vintage auto museum is one of the attractions of the district.

    Te Puke is only 15 minutes’ drive from Papamoa Beach, nearMount Maunganui. From here, tourists can swim, surf, sail and participate in scubadiving and boat charter trips.

    Tourist Activities at Te Puke

    Te Puke’s museums, galleries, parks and gardens, antique shops and restaurants provide many diversions within the town itself.

    Walking trails and farm tours take in scenery and attractions further afield. Or see it all from the air with a scenic helicopter flight.

    Enthusiasts of fishing and/or diving can join charter expeditions to some excellent locations, including White Island, New Zealand’s most active volcano.

    Travelling a short distance to Papamoa beach offers excellent swimming, surfing, kayaking and fishing. Charter cruises and dolphin/whale watching trips are available from nearby Tauranga and Mt Maunganui year round.

    Golfing is popular in the Bay of Plenty. Te Puke has an 18-hole and there are many others within easy reach throughout the region.
