  • Otorohanga, about 60 minutes’ drive south-east of Hamilton, is the largest town in the north of the King Country district, an area of rolling farmland flanked by limestone hills.

    Walkways and hiking tracks around Otorohanga travel through country with interesting land features associated with underground caves and sink-holes. An indoor climbing centre in the town offers practice and advice with climbing gear.

    Not far from the town centre is a kiwi bird house and native bird wildlife centre that is well worth a visit.
